DC FanDome is coming this weekend! (and also in September). If that sounds confusing, don’t worry. I can explain. A few months ago, DC decided to launch a huge virtual convention to showcase their current offerings and to give back to their worldwide fans. DC FanDome which launches this Saturday, August 22 is the first-of-its kind global 24 hour virtual experience for DC superfans around the world. But, it turned out to be so massive that DC realized that not even The Flash could get through it all in one day.
So they made the decision to turn DC FanDome into a two-part event. One that still launches on August 22 and a second event on Sept 12. (I got a peek at the full DC FanDome lineup and I can see why. There’s A LOT going on!) What this means: There will now be two DC FanDome global events accessible in multiple languages around the world. Below is the breakdown of the revised DC FanDome experience that was unveiled to press and fans yesterday.
First date: DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes: On Saturday, August 22, at 10:00 am PDT, fans will be transported into the DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes, a world designed personally by Jim Lee featuring special programming, panels and exclusive reveals, primarily from the film division. There will be exclusive, yet brief, inclusion of TV series, games and comics. Not all TV titles will be featured on this day. None of the previously announced interactive islands will be featured on this day.
In addition to the new Wonder Woman 1984 trailer dropping this weekend, I have it on good authority that SOMETHING HUGE will be announced at this weekend’s event and that there is a special event for my fellow black nerds out there Saturday as well. (Yep, it’s Blerd and Bougee related)
Second date: DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse: On Saturday, September 12, at 10:00am PDT, fans can choose their own adventure via the official DC FanDome scheduler featuring 100+ hours of on-demand content during DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse. This experience highlighting TV, films, games and comics panels will allow fans to explore the entire DC Multiverse from both mobile and desktop. All TV titles will be featured.
The September 12 date also includes the panel that I’m moderating. Reintroducing Nubia: The Black Amazonian Queen featuring writer L.L. McKinney and artist Robyn Smith.
