Steve Aoki, 2x Grammy nominated DJ & Producer, will celebrate the nationwide release of his new Neon Future (Impact Theory) comic book series with an exclusive New York fan signing and media event at Midtown Comics (Downtown) on May 23rd at 6 pm. Neon Future is a story that takes place in a future where technology is illegal and a war is brewing between the Augmented (cybernetically enhanced humans) and the Authentic, (non-altered humans). The resistance movement, Neon Future, strives to bring peace by showing the world a brighter future in harmony with technology.

Neon Future’s mysterious leader Kita Sovee (inspired by Steve Aoki) is forced to decide whether to use his latest technological innovation to bring a world-famous Augmented back from the dead. This choice threatens to tip the uneasy balance between the government and the techno-class into an all-out civil war.
The comic book features an award-winning team: Legendary Eisner winning writer Jim Krueger (DC Comics “Justice,” Marvel “Earth X,”) and artists Jheremy Raapack (“Injustice: Gods Among Us,” “Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight,” and “Hulk Smash.”), with variants by Neil Edwards (“The Avengers,” “Superman,”), South Korean artist Kim Jung Gi (“Civil War 2”), and Argentinian visual artist Mau Lencinas.
I got a chance to speak with Steve Aoki briefly about Neon Future at NYCC last year about how his song and music video Singularity inspired the comic.

Issues 1 and 2 are available now and Aoki will be signing copies at the event.
